Jools Holland 60th Birthday Party 2018

On Wednes­day 24 Jan­u­ary Bois­dale of Bel­gravia was rem­i­nis­cent of a Lat­er with Jools Hol­land stu­dio set. The Bel­gravia stal­wart host­ed a star stud­ded event attend­ed by Kylie Minogue, Mick Huck­nall, Sir Tom Jones, Sir Bob Geld­of, David Gilmore, Mel C not to men­tion tin­sel town and sil­ver screen stars Hugh Lau­rie, Jenifer Saun­ders, Dawn French, jour­nal­ist and phil­an­thropist Jemi­ma Gold­smith and come­di­an Har­ry Hill.

Moet & Chan­don Brut Impe­r­i­al NV and Belvedere Vod­ka Mar­ti­nis were served at the recep­tion to the spec­tac­u­lar boo­gie woo­gie sounds played by leg­end octo­ge­nar­i­an Neville Dickie.

The guests were treat­ed to a deli­cious din­ner of Scot­tish shell­fish extrav­a­gan­za of lan­gous­tine, sea urchin, razor clams, oys­ters, mus­sels, crab and Dunkeld smoked salmon accom­pa­nied by Chablis 2015, Domaine Fourey fol­lowed by Aberdeen­shire grass fed dry aged fil­let of beef with Perig­ord black truf­fle and smoked mashed pota­toes with a deli­cious claret, Château Rahoul 2009, Graves.

Through­out the meal tal­ent­ed pianist Angus Mac­don­ald enter­tained the esteemed crowd with clas­sic jazz and after a mag­nif­i­cent selec­tion of British farm­house cheeses with Hen­nessey XO Cognac, Jools blew out 60 can­dles on a mouth-water­ing white choco­late and straw­ber­ry cake after which all 120 guests burst into Hap­py Birth­day song.

After a touch­ing speech Jools was pre­sent­ed with a stun­ning Parmi­giani Ton­da Métro­graphe watch by his charm­ing wife Christa­bel. Then the par­ty real­ly start­ed! Michael ​“Bami” Rose and his Jamaican band rocked the joint and led by Kylie Minogue and Jools the entire room erupt­ed into danc­ing to the infec­tious reggae/​jazz beats.
